Happy New Year, everyone! I feel abundantly blessed to see another year and for the opportunity to spend quality time with friends and family! I’m most excited to finally feel well enough to style myself and shoot pictures for the new year. A week before the Christmas holiday I battled the flu and was totally down for the count.
The perfect NYE weather here in Texas motivated me to dress more casually for the night’s festivities. A very nice neighbor invited the hubby and I to a small NYE get together. Guests had the option of hanging inside or out on the patio. So my choice of outfit worked out well. I wore a Panama hat, a long sleeved shirt, a vest, ankle length trousers, menswear style oxford shoes, and of course, minimal make up (red lippies).
I previously mentioned on Instagram that I never make New Year resolutions. I firmly believe that waiting until Jan 1 each year to set goals or to improve/make changes to ones life means ones focus or goal setting may not be as concrete as it should be. Setting goals and working towards them with sure fire diligence definitely brings favorable results.
Thanks a million for those who take time to follow my blog as well as like and comment on social media. Again, thanks for your desire to see more of what I love doing in this new year.
I know my style is a bit different; however I feel truly blessed and honored to have a platform to share my most favored hobby: fashion/style. I started this journey as a kiddo, collecting my favorite looks from newspapers and magazines. I dreamed about modeling and moving to NYC; but never did. I labeled it as a missed opportunity or a dream unfulfilled. Never in a million years would I have a imagined life coming full circle providing this opportunity to share my love of fashion and style (while modeling too..LOL) with individuals around the world and from all walks of life.
Unlike a New Years resolution, my goal for 2017 is to continue bringing my style to the forefront and to support others on this journey as well. I wish each of you a blessed and prosperous NEW YEAR! Happy 2017!
Hi everyone! Have you ever found what you consider the perfect pair of jeans? Well, years ago I picked up a random pair of skinny jeans at Target without trying them on! I fell head over heels for those jeans and ended up wearing them until their death! LOL!
Shortly thereafter, I began a mad hunt for a reasonably priced pair but had been unsuccessful! However, I did find these beauties on sale at H&M. Although a bit higher rise than I’m accustomed to, so I gambled and ordered them online!
I consider these my new “go to” pair! I’ve styled them with different looks from the casual tee and sneakers to run errands to a dressier look with a blazer and heels for a girls night out or a date night with the hubs! After several washes, I report no visible signs of shrinkage or color change. So…Yippy! Check out a few similar pairs I’m loving right now. Hi everyone! As a bonafide shopaholic, I find ways to load my closet with new items without breaking the bank! For my latest haul, I decided to coat shop a bit early, although I plan to stock up on a few more styles on Black Friday and during “after Christmas sales/clearance”. FYI, adding more items to my never ending “Wish List”; it’s just the shopaholic in me! Be sure to click the coat description to view items on the store’s website!
I bought this patch work overcoat a few weeks ago and what a fabulous fit! Since the 80’s/90’s I have had this love affair with military/band style coats and jackets.
I consider this coat a long overdue purchase! For ages I’ve wanted an animal print coat but never found one for the right price; until now! Of course, with Dallas’ unpredictable weather, fleece definitely comes in handy on colder days and why not look stylish while keeping warm?
My final coat purchase , the wool blend overcoat, looks and feels very expensive. I plan to put several miles on this coat this season.
As always, thanks for stopping by!
Happy Fall, everyone! I knowwwwww…it’s been an entire month since writing a blog post and I plan to improve in this area! So to get back into the swing of things, I’d like to share a few of my fall “must-have” boots (all under $100 bucks) that I’ve either purchased or plan to do so! For starters, thigh high boots are allllll the rage and I definitely caught the wave on this one. I’m definitely old enough to remember when only a certain “type of working woman” wore this style of boot! LOL! After a bit of refinement, a variety of available styles and colors make choosing easier than before.
As far as styling these boots, I thought I’d go a bit “edgy” adding a rocker graphic tee, slim jeans, and this fun bolero style hat! Check out the links below!

Hi Everyone! Today I’m showing off my favorite pair of distressed jeans! I’ve loved this style of jeans since they debuted in the 1980s, yes THE 80s! Back then, it was the “in or cool thing” to distress your own pair. Now, clothing companies take the liberty to distress jeans offering them in different styles and washes!
I paired these jeans with a fun blouse that ties in the front; both items were purchased from ZARA.com (here too). I’ve also linked a few favs from other affordable brands below. Be sure to comment about this post or ask any fashion related questions you may have below!

Hi Everyone! I hope you survived the hustle and bustle of the holidays and spent time with your loved ones. Fortunately, I did both and managed to shoot a few pictures too.
This ensemble consists of a window pane print blazer, a black dress shirt, a gray tie, black pants, heels and a faux fur coat. As stated in my earlier post, I felt a bit on the fence on whether to purchase the coat. I’m excited I decided to! Besides being warm enough for those low temp days in Texas, the coat’s a looker and is super comfy!

Hi Everyone! Today’s post showcases an awesome J Crew wool suit scored on Ebay this past summer. This suit debuted a few seasons ago, however it’s still a knock out!
First, I love the vibrant pink color, a difficult color to find in a suit. This one definitely turns heads. Secondly, the fit is amazing! I usually wear a size 2 and 4 in J Crew clothing, the only brand that gives me “that tailored” feel and look.
The seller offered the suit brand new, a size 4 blazer and size 6 trousers. I contemplated at first, and then finally said to myself, “what the heck, just go for it”. I’m sure glad I did! Despite being a size 6, the pants still fit nicely, giving just a hint of sag, which I like at times (the tomboy in me…hehe!)
I styled the suit as separates too; check out how below. Click links to view products on retailers websites for purchase.

Here, I simply added a black vest from New York and Company
For the final look, I added a houndstooth blazer …(similar here and super cute)

Hey Everyone! Today I’m showcasing the continuation of my Fall/Winter Look Book started in late September. Both work and family obligations delayed the process a bit, but I’ve worked diligently towards its completion (while anxiously awaiting warmer weather)!
Growing up in the 70s, I witnessed the “fur coat mania”. Even my mom wore them; throughout the 70s and 80s! Since I’ve always wanted one; I went for it! I jumped for joy after seeing them on sale at hm.com a few weeks ago.
First of all, the vibrant burgundy color is “the business”! Also, this coat is super warm and cozy! I love, love, love it! Did I mention how much I love it? LoL
I paired the look with a white dress shirt, a gray skinny tie, a white cab hat, animal print pumps, (old, from lulus.com) and black ankle length trousers, also from hm.com.
Thanks for reading!
